Be alert.

Start 'em -

Joe Flacco QB Bal - It's rare when I say "Flacco" and "start" in the same sentence. This is one of those times. The Ravens' opponent, the Arizona Cardinals, give up over 21 fpg to QB's. While that's not a huge amount, during bye weeks, it's better than a kick in the backside.

Ben Roethlisberger QB Pit - Big Ben has been on a serious run as of late. He's put up close to a 1,000 yds and 9 TD's over the last 4 weeks. I traded for him in 2 leagues two weeks ago and have nothing but "W's" to show for it. This week vs New England should add nicely to those 4 week totals.

Darren Sproles, Pierre Thomas RB's N.O. - Awwwww man, I can't wait for this game. After seeing what DeMarco Murray did to St. Louis last week, I can't wait to see what these 2 do to the Ram defense. In fact, I'm tempted to tell owners in 14 and 16 team leagues to pick up Chris Ivory (who the Saints activated this week) AND FLEX HIM!

Ryan Torain RB Was - I say use this guy before the inevitable injury rears its ugly head, or Roy Helu takes over. Whichever comes first. With Tim Hightower out, playing a so-so Buffalo Bill run defense, this might be your last chance to get decent productivity out of Torain.

Anquan Boldin WR Bal - Remember what I said earlier about Joe Flacco? Well, just erase Flacco's name and enter Boldin's. The Cardinals have given up almost 26 fantasy points a game to WR's over the last few weeks. Cash in on Boldin this week.

Mario Manningham WR NYG - I know, I've been getting killed by Manningham's lack of productivity too. I just feel that this is the week that Eli Manning rediscovers Mario for a score. Dolphin CB, Vontae Davis should be kept busy with H. Nicks, which should allow Manningham his biggest day yet in 2011.

Fred Davis TE Was - With C. Cooley out of the picture and the fact that Buffalo is the 3rd worst teamin giving up pts to TE's...don't even THINK of sitting Davis!

Brandon Pettigrew TE Det - This a fairly simple call. The Lion running game is in bad shape so Lion QB Matthew Stafford will be throwing early and often. Pettigrew will get what Calvin doesn't.

SIT these guys -

Tim Tebow QB Den - I'm not a Tebow hater, far from it. I just don't see him running like he did last week against Miami. And we all know he doesn't frighten anyone through the air.

Kevin Kolb QB Arz - Couple the dissappointing year Kolb has has so far with the Raven defense...you have a recipe for very few fantasy points.

ANY Detroit RB - Unless Barry Sanders makes an unexpected return, I'll pass on Lion RB's.

Joseph Addai RB Ind Addai has been fighting a hamstring injury and I don't have much faith in RB's who haven't completely recovered from hammy issues. Besides that, it's not as though Addai has been "lighting it up" anyway. There are better options out there.

Sidney Rice WR Sea - So, THIS is what Seattle got for...what was it, $41 million? I'd be going to customer service and demanding a refund. In all seriousness, Rice may still work out, but not this weekend vs Cincinnati. The Bengals have allowed the 2nd fewest fpg to WR's over the last 4 games.

Malcolm Floyd WR SD - I have to admit, Floyd was someone when I was drafting, I expected to have a nice, solid, year. Yeah, well, I was WAY off base on THAT thought. I'm not sure if it's all Floyd, or part of his poor #'s are because Phillip Rivers is playing in the Twilight Zone somewhere. Whichever it is, I'm looking somewhere else.

Marcedes Lewis TE Jax - Do you realize that some fantasy owners are still waiting for Lewis to pop back to his 2010 stats? Those are the guys I want to play against on the weekends. If you are one of those people, my friend, it is time to snap back into reality.

Plug 'em in....they're worth a start.

Plug 'em in. -

Matt Shaub QB/Hou - You might go into this game wondering if this is a good week to sit Shaub. After all, his opponents, the Steelers, have done a solid job vs opposing QB's so far. But look a bit deeper. Look who those opposing QB's have been: C. Painter, T. Collins and T. Jackson. Not exactly the NFL's version of murderers row. In week 1, J. Flacco threw for 3 TD's against Pittsburgh. This may be closer to what we see from Shaub.

Eli Manning QB/NYG - What a fantastic opportunity for Manning owners to get some serious fantasy points this week vs Arizona. Manning looks more confident lately, he gets M. Manningham back, and the Arizona defense has virtually no pass rush. The only bad thing? I don't own Manning on any of my fantasy teams.

LeGarrette Blount RB/TB - Blount owners were ready to dump Blount after the first week or two. Those that held off and kept him will be rewarded this week against a Colt defense that is run on quite a bit and are without, LB's Gary Brackett and Ernie Sims, DT Fili Moala, and SS Melvin Bullitt. Lets admit it, with Buc QB Josh Freeman not getting it done through the air, running Blount makes a lot of sense.

Tim Hightower RB/Was - After all this R. Helu talk, it's Hightower that is the play this week. He crushed them twice last year and the Ram defense is probably at a lower level now than it was last season, 175 yds a game to RB's, not to mention the receiving yardage they give up to running backs as well.

Jabbar Gaffney WR/Was - Need a final WR to round out that lineup? Having a tough time finding a flex play? Worry no longer. Jabbar may be your answer. In PPR leagues, he's getting his looks (10/122 over last 2 games). And your added bonus? The Redskins are playing the Rams. Have you SEEN the Ram defensive backfield?!

Jordy Nelson WR/GB - After starting the season on a high note, Nelson's #'s came back to earth last week (3/40). No problem. This week he busts out once again. After the week J. Finley had last week, and the concern that G. Jennings will cause, Nelson should be primed for a solid outing. And, if Champ Bailey is MIA again...all the better.

Randy McMichael TE/SD - I was stunned when I saw McMichael available in 2 of my leagues. Sure, P. Rivers is struggling a bit, but with A. Gates out, and Miami one of the 2-3 worst teams when it comes to giving up fantasy points to opposing TE's, picking him up and playing him is a no-brainer.

(Mark) Start 'em...sit 'em. Week 2

If these picks turn out to be a bust, I take no blame. I have the James Taylor CD..."October Road" on as I do this and I'm in an exaggerated, mellow, state of mind.

START 'EM -

Matthew Stafford QB Det - Listen, if you have Stafford and you're just not quite sure to start him or not, let me make the decision for you. Play him! He's facing a team in the Chiefs that has lost their best defensive back (Berry), and gave up an obscene # of TD's through the air last week.

Ben Roethlisberger QB Pit - After doing his best Jay Cutler, "running for my life imitation" 2010 version, Roethlisberger eases back into a bit of normalcy this week as he faces a Seahawk defense that I believe is ready for a good shredding.

Peyton Hillis RB Cle - Yep. No doubt about it. The Madden cover jinx has struck again! Well, I'm not sure about THAT, but after 1 week I was hearing grumblings. While I don't believe Hillis is as good as he looked last season, I'm of the mindset that this week he takes a generous Colt defense and lays a hurtin' on 'em this week.

Rashard Mendenhall RB Pit - Remember what I said about Roethlisberger? No? Go back, and apply it to Mendenhall this week. I see 1-man wrecking crew numbers this weekend.

Mario Manningham WR NYG - As a Manningham owner, I was expecting a bit more out of him in week 1. But, I am a PATIENT fantasy owner and vs the MASH unit that IS the St. Louis Rams, my guess is I will be rewarded for that patience. 6 rec/80 yds/1 td

Jordy Nelson WR GB - In larger leagues, this guy is absolute $$$. In my 14-team league, I have in as my WR#3 or flex (depending on the match up) and ain't lookin' back.

SIT 'EM -

Jay Cutler QB Chi - Oooooo, I got a bad feeling here. Something tells me the Bears are hitting the road and Cutler will be reverting to his "dancing days" of last season. New Orleans didn't look very good defensively in week one and I think a little home cookin' for the Saints is going to give Cutler indigestion.

Matt Ryan QB Atl - Ugh. After a rather indifferent performance in week 1 against Chicago, Ryan is "rewarded" with a game vs Philadelphia. Good luck Matt.

Maurice Jones-Drew RB Jax - I know, I know, you're going to start him. So am I. Just be smart enough to temper expectations. He's not going to lead your fantasy squad to the promised land, but I could see him getting around 12-15 fantasy points.

Frank Gore RB SF - As with MJD, I know you'll start him, but just don't get your hopes up. I think Dallas will keep Gore pretty quiet.

Steve Smith WR Car - Those of you the played Smith last week, I hope you also bought lottery tickets. Last week was "fools gold". The Green Bay secondary will thoroughly confuse Panther QB Cam Newton, and frustrate Smith to no end.

Dwayne Bowe WR KC - The Chiefs looked so bad last week, I just can't bring myself to play Bowe until KC shows some life. I don't see them showing much of that going to Detroit vs the Lions. It's a "wait-and-see" situation with KC.

You can listen to the FF101 crew every Sunday morning online at, www.sportsradio1450.com from 9a-11a ct

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://mkgram-fantasyfootball101.blogspot.com/2011/09/mark-start-emsit-em-week-2.html' title='(Mark) Start 'em...sit 'em. Rodgers, G. Jennings, J. Finley, D. Brees, J. Graham.

No, I didn't forget M. Colston. While you probably should play him, remember, he is coming off of off-season knee surgery AND the Green Bay secondary isn't chopped liver. Just don't expect huge numbers.

Another NO wide-out to be wary of is Lance Moore. He has missed a # of practices due to a groin injury. He is questionable as of Wednesday afternoon.

Temper your expectations with Green Bay RB Ryan Grant. First off, New Orleans has a pretty fair rush defense and secondly, Grant will split carries with James Starks.

Consider starting - RB Mark Ingram NO, and this pains me to say...either K, Mason Crosby GB or John Kasay NO.

Sleeper play - WR Robert Meachem NO. Rodgers, Brees, Jennings, Finley...etc. I didn't forget M. Colston, but be aware, Colston IS coming off of off-season surgery and is facing a good Green Bay secondary. Don't expect huge #'s.

Lance Moore is OUT due to a groin injury.

Ryan Grant may have a tough time getting yardage since he will split carries with James Starks.

Other players worthy of starting - TE Jimmy Graham NO, RB Mark Ingram NO, and I can't believe I'm saying this...K's Mason Crosby and John Kasay.

Sleeper play - WR Robert Meachem NO. Wes Welker HAS to be ranked better than #19. I think he and Tom Brady will have big years...I like Welker at around #11.

Anquan Boldin should be bumped up a bit due to Baltimore signing Lee Evans. Evans will stretch the field allowing Boldin better opportunities. I really like him in TD leagues. When I read Manning himself say that, "I'm going to need every bit of the next 2 weeks to get ready." I get a little worried about drafting him too high. I remember had poorly he played early in the season a couple of years ago after a leg injury. I think he slides down below Rivers and Romo.

Kyle Orton was red-hot last year at the beginning of the season. My guess is he may do it again. I feel he should be no lower than 17th...after Cutler.

RB's -

1) Adrian Peterson Min
2) Arian Foster Hou
3) Chris Johnson Ten
4) Ray Rice Bal
5) LeSean McCoy Phi
6) Maurice Jones-Drew Jax
7) Jamaal Charles KC
8) Rashard Mendenhall Pit
9) Matt Forte Chi
10) Frank Gore SF
11) Darren McFadden Oak
12) Steven Jackson Stl
13) Peyton Hillis Cle
14) Shonn Greene NYJ
15) Felix Jones Dal
16) Michael Turner Atl
17) Ahmad Bradshaw NYG
18) Mark Ingram NO
19) Javid Best Det
20) LaGarette Blount TB
21) Knowshon Moreno Den
22) Ryan Mathews SD
23) DeAngelo Williams Car
24) Tim Hightower Was
25) Fred Jackson Buf

Mark - At this point in time, you HAVE to lower Chris Johnson in the rankings. It was said that even if he signed today (8/22) there was a good chance he might miss week 1. I think he drops to at least 7th.

I also think the both, Felix Jones and Tim Hightower should be moved up 3 slots each. Both have looked very good thus far in pre-season.

Players you'll regret overlooking on draft day.

QB - Carson Palmer, (Cin) Last season was quite honestly, a disappointing one for Palmer and the Bengals. While Palmer threw for over 3,000 yds and 21 TD's, it had to be thought of as an off year.

This season I expect Palmer's arm strength to be back to 100%. The receiving corps is much better with the addition of Antonio Bryant and draftee, TE Jermaine Gresham. Not to mention that dancin' fool, Chad Ochocinco.

I'd have no reservations of waiting in a draft and picking Palmer as a starter in rds 9 or 10...which is his ADP.

RB - Chester Taylor, (Chi) I've been singing the praises of Taylor since he became a Bear and I'm sure not going to stop now. This is the type of RB that OC Mike Martz simply loves. He runs hard, he is very good catching the ball, and also can block...a very important quality since Martz's system has always put his QB in peril.

Barring an injury to Matt Forte, you won't get starters #'s from Taylor, but he's a solid choice as a 10th rd pickup (ADP=123).

WR - Donnie Avery, (Stl) Before most of you start breaking into side-splitting laughter, let me explain why Avery is a good late rd (he's been going in rd 13 in many mock drafts) choice.

Avery has the most experience of the WR's on the Rams which should make him a favorite target of rookie Sam Bradford (ok, or maybe A.J. Feeley). Avery has shown good speed and I think will be the red-zone target as well. If the Rams also get Laurent Robinson back from injury, this should also benefit Avery.

I just think he's too good a option for a WR#3, WR#4, or flex player to overlook.

These are just 3 of 12 players that I consider to be overlooked and better finds than their ADP show. The key to successful fantasy seasons are to scope out these players and not be afraid to pull the trigger on draft day.

The Pick - 3 Results...Final Totals.

Here are the results of the Pick-3 Challenge. I fully plan to do it again next year if anyone is interested...with a couple of tweaks. 1) You won't be able to use a player but every 3 weeks, ie, week 1, week 4, week 7...etc. 2) I want to add a TE to the roster.

Hopefully, I can get about 20-25 people to play next year.

Thanks again everyone!

The Pick - 3 Challenge Results. Even though Josh missed picking 1 week earlier in the season, is only 35 pts behind Chris for 3rd place.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone. Week 7 winners and losers.

Ok, ok, I've taken my deserved punishment for my suggestion that Matt Hasselbeck would be a good start at QB last week. I've begged forgiveness and am going to give it another shot.

Winners...who to start.

QB Phillip Rivers, San Diego - Kansas City is the "lucky" team that gets to host the Chargers this week. I don't think San Diego is going to be in a good mood after last weeks loss. Good stat for Rivers to check out, the Chiefs rank 25th vs the pass and have allowed 10 TD passes so far in '09.

QB Aaron Rodgers, GB - The Pack travels to Cleveland to face one of poorer pass defenses in the NFL. Last week, Steeler QB, Ben Roethlisbeger torched the Brownies for 417 yards. I see no reason that Rodgers can't continue the onslaught.

Also...Eli has a big day vs Arizona. Ryan tames the Cowboys.

RB Thomas Jones, NYJ - Jones ran wild last week, going for over 200 yards. This week, he gets to shine again as the Jets face Oakland and their 28th ranked run defense. Oakland gives up, on average, 145 yards rushing a game. Jones should roll once again.

RB Marion Barber, Dallas - Barber still isn't 100%, but he's healthy enough to get the start against the Atlanta Falcons. While I don't see a big yardage game for Barber, I do see him doing well in the red-zone with a couple of scores.

Also...Benson gets revenge vs the Bears. Addai gets his against the Rams.

WR Vincent Jackson, SD - For the same reasons I picked P. Rivers to have a big game I'm also going with Jackson. One other reason is Jackson taller, faster and more physical than the Chief defensive backs.

WR Hines Ward, Pittsburgh - I've got to ride the hot horse boys and girls. Ward is having a great early '09 and I don't know why he shouldn't continue at home vs a so-so Viking secondary. Minnesota gives up 248 ypg through the air and 9 scores. This should be a great game.

Also...Driver handles the Browns. Nicks finds success against Arizona.

Losers...who to sit.

QB Marc Bulger, St. Louis - Don't be fooled by Bulger's fairly good game last week against Jacksonville. This week he steps up in competition as he faces a Colt team coming off a bye week. The Colt defense has allowed just 2 TD passes this season. By the way, the Colts also get S Bob Sanders back this week. Have fun Marc.

QB Jake Delhomme, Carolina - I'm going to be pretty brief here. Delhomme is not a consistent NFL QB anymore and should not be started...period.

Also...Sanchez struggles yet again vs the Raiders. Henne finds it tough vs NO.

RB Brandon Jacobs, NYG - Talk about a disappointment! Jacobs has not been getting the job done for fantasy owners. This week doesn't offer much promise as the Giants face the #1 ranked run defense (Arizona). Not only that, but the Cards have given up just 2 rushing scores.

RB Carnell Williams, TB - 'Cadillac' has had a resurgence this year after injuries. Problem is, this week he'll face the Patriots. New England isn't particularly great against the run, but the Bucs will be so far behind by halftime, the running game will be an afterthought.

Also...Lewis does little vs GB. Slaton just average against San Francisco.

WR Steve Smith, Carolina - I feel bad for Smith. He's riddled with a bad QB (see above), and he's playing Buffalo. The Bills rank 4th in pass defense in the NFL and give up just 179 ypg through the air. Sorry Steve.

WR Braylon Edwards, NYJ - Many were ready to jump on the Edwards bandwagon after coming over from Cleveland and having a strong first game for the Jets. Well, the 2nd game didn't go near as well, and I don't believe it's going to get much better this week. Sanchez is still learning and the Raider pass defense is pretty good.

Also...Berrian blanketed by Pit defense. Week 6's winners and losers.

As we head into week 6, lets take a look into the crystal ball and see if we can help some of you out there turn your fantasy season around.

Winners...who to start.

QB Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle - Wow! Talking about coming back from an injury with a bang. Hasselbeck simply beat Jacksonville silly, passing for 241yds/4TD's. Things look bright for Hasselbeck again this week as Arizona comes to Seattle. The Cardinals rank dead last in the NFL in pass defense. They give up on average over 300 ypg through the air. And although they've already had their bye week, they've still given up 9 passing TD's. One more thing, Hasselbeck won't have to worry too much about being sacked, Arizona has just 8 on the year.

QB David Garrard, Jacksonville - Yeah, I realize he stunk the joint up last week against an inspired Seattle team. You have to realize, the Jags...and Garrard, don't travel particularly well. BUT, this week they get that team from St. Louis pretending to be a NFL team...at home (start licking chops now). Garrard has averaged over 300 yds passing his last 2 home games with 5 TD's. Even better, Michael Sims-Walker at WR after being a baaad boy last week and having to sit out the game.

Also...Brady breaks out vs Tennessee. Rodgers tames the Lions.

RB Cedric Benson, Cincinnati - It's time for yours truly to eat crow. I've done nothing but rag on Benson since he entered the league with the Bears in '07. The guy I screamed at for 2-plus years now leads the NFL in rushing with 487 yds. He shredded what I thought was a stout Raven defense for 120 in week 5. It's time I hop on the Benson train. This week he goes up against a Houston defense ranked 26th in the league giving up 140ypg. The Texans have also allowed 9 rushing TD's. ALL ABOARD!!

RB Clinton Portis, Washington - I'm not the biggest Portis fan, he takes waaay too many hits to suit me. But there are certain weeks that you just can't pass playing him. This is one of those weeks. The Chiefs come to town with a run defense that doesn't scare anybody (132.8 ypg). If Portis can keep from getting hurt, he should have a big day.

Also...MJD runs wild vs the Rams. Mendenhall rolls for a 3rd straight week against Cleveland.

WR Greg Jennings, Green Bay - Jennings has been a disappointment for fantasy owners so far this season. This week, at home vs the Lions, he'll redeem himself. Jennings has averaged just 60 ypg this season. But he gets to face a Lion team that gives up 244 ypg passing, as well as a league-leading 15 passing TD's. This could be tough for Lion fans to watch.

WR Steve Smith, Carolina - Poor Steve Smith. A top talent at his position, someone who should easily be giving fantasy owners double-digit scoring every week...but he can't. Why? His QB, Jake Delhomme continues his free-fall into QB hell. But this is a week where Smith may get lucky and get the GOOD Delhomme. The Panthers go to Tampa Bay and plays a Buc squad that has surrendered 12 TD passes this season.

Also...Michael Sims-Walker redeems himself vs the Rams. Santonio Holmes spanks Cleveland.

Losers...who to sit.

QB Matt Cassel, Kansas City - Cassel actually didn't look too bad last week vs Dallas...but that's not saying much these days. This week he faces a Redskin team that doesn't do much well except defend the pass (171.2 ypg 5 TD's). With bye weeks I know some are considering starting Cassel. I'd look hard elsewhere first.

QB Phillip Rivers, San Diego - I know, it's tough NOT to start Rivers, but I think he'll struggle a little. Denver's pass defense is about as good as it gets in the NFL so far this season (171 ypg and just 2 TD passes). The Broncos get after the QB as well. They've sacked opposition QB's 16 times, only the Vikings have more. Rivers isn't a horrible play, but temper expectations.

Also...Shaub struggles vs Cincy. No big #'s for Cutler vs Atlanta.

RB...? - Interesting situation this week. I don't see any sure fire flops from one RB. There are a couple tandem RB's that might get shut down:

Julius Jones/Edgerrin James, Seattle against Arizona (71 ppg...2 TD's).
Jamal Lewis/Jerome Harrison, Cleveland vs Pittsburgh (71.2 ypg...1 TD).
Sammy Morris/Lawrence Maroney, NE vs Tennessee.

One name player who I believe will struggle a bit is Adrian Peterson. After allowing C. Benson 120 yds last week, I think Ray Lewis and crew will tighten up the run defense.

WR Marques Colston, NO - Don't misunderstand me. This should be a great game. And there will be scoring...I just don't think Colston will be a big part of it. The Giants are fantastic against the pass, barely giving up over 100 yards per game. I think the Giants will try to take Colston out of the equation and force Brees to go other WR's.

WR Steve Smith, NYG - Lets stay with the same game. The Saints have one of the better defenses that people are just now finding out about. Against the pass, they give up some yardage (212), buy also have allowed just 3 TD's and also have 10 INT's. This week, the Giants S. Smith may go back to being known as the other Steve Smith.

Also...A. Bryant does nothing special vs Carolina. Boldin quiet against the Seahawks.

You know, there are some real good games this weekend. But a week without P. Manning just makes the week lack a little something. Watching him direct a team on a drive is a thing of beauty.

Oh well, enough of my man-crush on Peyton. Good luck everyone.

You can hear me on www.sportsradio1450.com every Saturday morning @ 8:05 CST. It sounds like NFL commish Roger Goodell intends to play hardball with Plax. Rumours abound that Goodell may suspend Burress for the season.

The Denver Broncos re-iterate that they are not going to trade disgruntled WR, Brandon Marshall. No matter how much he whines and complains. We'll see if the team changes its tune as the opening of camp draws nearer.

It appears more and more likely that former Atlanta Falcon QB Michael Vick may have to spend a year in the newly formed UFL league. It just doesn't look as though any NFL team has the courage to sign Vick...this season anyway.

By the way, don't be surprised if Chicago locks up QB Jay Cutler for a long term deal. The Bears are about $18 million under the cap space and may decide this might be the smartest way to spend most of it.

QB Rankings/Projections

1 Drew Brees NO 32td 15int 4650yds
2 Tom Brady NE 32td 10int 4375yds
3 Peyton Manning IND 30td 11int 4260yds
4 Kurt Warner ARZ 29td 13int 4250yds
5 Aaron Rodgers GB 27td 13int 3885yds
6 Phillip Rivers SD 27td 13int 3815yds
7 Donovan McNabb PHI 27td 11int 3775yds
8 Tony Romo DAL 26td 13int 3750yds
9 Jay Cutler CHI 24td 15int 3715yds
10 Matt Shaub HOU 23td 15int 3685yds
11 Matt Ryan ATL 22td 11int 3600yds
12 Carson Palmer CIN 23td 14int 3675yds
13 Ben Roethlisberger PIT 21td 14int 3420yds
14 Matt Cassel KC 19td 14int 3380yds
15 David Garrard JAX 18td 11int 3350yds
16 Matt Hasselbeck SEA 21td 14int 3290yds
17 Trent Edwards BUF 21td 13int 3200yds
18 Eli Manning NYG 20td 13int 3185yds
19 Joe Flacco BAL 19td 13int 3125yds
20 Jake Delhomme CAR 20td 15int 3190yds
21 Jason Campbell WAS 16td 11int 3120yds
22 Chad Pennington MIA 15td 10int 3055yds
23 Kyle Orton DEN 17td 14int 3015yds
24 Shaun Hill SF 15td 13int 2955yds
25 Brady Quinn CLE 15td 14int 2875yds
26 JaMarcus Russell OAK 16td 15int 2855yds
27 Kerry Collins TEN 15td 12int 2790yds
28 Marc Bulger StL 15td 14int 2750yds
29 Matthew Stafford DET 13td 10int 2200yds
30 Mark Sanchez NYJ 12td 10int 1970yds
31 Luke McCown TB 11td 9int 1915yds
32 Sage Rosenfels MIN 10td 9int 1980yds

Starting with Bulger, things get real murky. Bulger has had to run for his life over the last couple of years due to a poor offensive line. He has a serious case of happy-feet. Stafford may not start the season in favor of D. Culpepper. Same can be said about Sanchez, Clemens might get a start or two for the Jets. Leftwich might start in place of McCown. And Rosenfels, he has T. Jackson and some guy named Fave that may gum up the works.

Openings still remain for the FF101 Pick-3 Challenge. My Twitter draft. The good..the bad..and the ugly?

Having just completed my first Twitter draft, I have to say that the quality of my fellow drafters was excellent. There were many, savvy picks made. There's no doubt in my mind that an actual league with these guys would be a real challenge.

Here is how my roster ended up.

1.03 - Maurice Jones-Drew RB
2.10 - Randy Moss WR
3.03 - Reggie Wayne WR
4.10 - Aaron Rodgers QB
5.03 - Knowshon Moreno RB
6.10 - Reggie Bush RB
7.03 - Eddie Royal WR
8.10 - John Carlson TE
9.03 - Percy Harvin WR
10.10 - Derrick Mason WR
11.03 - Chester Taylor RB
12.10 - Chicago DST
13.03 - Joe Flacco QB
14.10 - David Akers K
15.03 - Joey Galloway WR
16.10 - Brent Celek TE

QB's - Going into this draft I was really wanting one of my top-5 QB's. I was lucky to get one in Rodgers. It's possible I could have waited till pick 5.03, but the 2 owners after me had yet to draft a QB...so I thought it best to take Rodgers in rd 4 and be sure. Rodgers had a fine first season as GB's QB and I see him only getting better. Joe Flacco is useful in a bye-week guy. He won't give fantasy owners big numbers...but he won't embarrass either.

RB's - After Maurice Jones-Drew, this might be the weakest part of my roster. If Moreno takes the starting job in Denver...if Reggie Bush is 100%...and if Chester Taylor continues to be productive along with Adrian Peterson, I'll be in great shape. If those guys fail me, I'll be hurting at this position. Also, looking back, I probably should have taken a 5th RB.

WR's - Without question, the strength of this team. After picking MJD 13 of the next 18 picks were RB's. I decided it would be wiser to get a couple of top-tier WR's as opposed to a 3rd-tier RB. Getting Moss and Wayne in a league where 3 WR's are required in the starting lineup gives me a potent 1-2 punch. I really like the rest of the WR's in the group. An rising star in Royal, 2 proven veterans in Mason and Galloway, and possibly a breakthrough rookie in Percy Harvin.

TE's - I felt very happy to get 2 solid but undervalued TE's in Carlson and Celek. Carlson had #'s that were as good, if not better, than Chicago TE Greg Olsen...who is thought of as a top 5-7 TE. Celek played so well last year the Eagles didn't pursue long-time Eagle TE L.J. Smith.

K's - I usually wait until round 13 or later to pick a kicker. I have a list of 2-3 guys I feel that are worth drafting in rds 13 or 14. If I don't get a chance at one of those guys, then I'll just wait till the last round or two to pick a kicker. I almost never draft 2 kickers. I just don't see the point in wasting a roster space on a reserve kicker when I could get another RB or WR. I was able to get Akers, a kicker who always seems to get it done and someone that can hit the longer FG's.

DST - Just change the work kicker from above and put in defense. In this mock I was able to get the Bear defense. They're not as dominant as they once were, but I always have luck with them.

All-in-all, I was extremely satisfied with this draft. I firmly believe that this team has championship possibilities written all over it.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://mkgram-fantasyfootball101.blogspot.com/2009/05/my-twitter-draft.html' title='The Outcome. This movie allows Gene Hackman to once again show what a fantastic actor he really is.

2) Rocky - Wait a sec...the hero LOSES and yet you feel good for him? Yep.

3) Bull Durham - This movie has so many great quotes...well, just go here http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094812/quotes

4) Brians Song (The original one) - Oh wow, just thinking about it makes me sad. Great flick.

5) Slap Shot - Who in the hell knew Paul Newman could skate?! The Hanson's make this movie what it is...funnier than hell.

6) Field of Dreams - Hey dad, wanna have a catch?

7) The Natural

8) Caddyshack

9) North Dallas Forty

10) Rudy

I know, many of you are screaming for certain movies to be on this list. Lets take a look at the diva's.

1) Andre Johnson (Houston)- This guy is an absolute animal. He puts fear in the defensive backfield of some poor team every week. There is no telling what type of numbers he'd put up if Shaub stays healthy and puts it together.

2) Larry Fitzgerald (Arizona)- Still young enough to put together many more fine seasons. If this guy gets his hands on a pass, it's his. He has the perfect QB in Kurt Warner. Warner knows what to do with stud WR's.

3) Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis)- Wayne had a bit of an off year last year, but should rebound with the stabilization of the receiving unit this season. Also, anytime you have Peyton Manning at the controls...you're in good shape.

4) Roddy White (Atlanta)- Proved to the fantasy football world that he is a #1 WR. White flourished with rookie QB Matt Ryan at the helm. Yet another plus? Having Tony Gonzalez at TE.

5) Calvin Johnson (Detroit)- If the Lions choice of Matthew Stafford pans out, Johnson gets bumped up a couple of slots. What a physical specimen. There isn't anything this guy can't do on a football field.

6) Randy Moss (New England)- Some say his best days are past. I don't buy it. The fact that he gets Brady back once again puts Moss in elite status. Look for stud numbers once again from Moss.

7) Greg Jennings (Green Bay)- Maybe the 1 WR that is a top-10 guy that some still don't know about. He's a special talent and has a QB in Aaron Rogers that can get him the ball when it counts.

8) Steve Smith (Carolina)- Quite possibly the most explosive WR in the top-10, Smith is a threat the minute he leaves the tunnel. Fantasy owners just need to hope that Jake Delhomme stays healthy.

9) AnQuan Boldin (Arizona)- Boldin stays in the top-10 as long as he stays in Arizona. If he goes most anywhere else, he drops down a few slots. This offense is made for somebody like Boldin.

10) Marques Colston (New Orleans)- He's in a powerhouse offense that just keeps getting better and better. Brees can throw it with the best of them. If Colston can shake from getting these nagging injuries, he should put up big numbers once again.

An early look at the TE's.

Always one of the toughest positions to rank. Lets take an early peek at the TE position.

1) Jason Witten (Dallas) - A good thing for Witten and the Cowboys may have gotten even better with the departure of Terrell Owens. Dallas QB Tony Romo and Witten have a very good relationship building and could once again put up solid numbers.

2) Antonio Gates (San Diego) - Injuries kept Gates down somewhat last season. Hopefully, a healthy season will allow Gates to re-establish himself as one of the NFL's best. He's a perfect fit for the Charger offense.

3) Tony Gonzalez (Atlanta) - What a great trade for Gonzalez. He put up great numbers playing in Kansas City without a whole lot of help. With Atlanta, he has a top-10 WR in Roddy White, a stud RB in Michael Turner, and an up-and-coming QB in Matt Ryan helping him to possibly get the ring he so badly wants.

4) Dallas Clark (Indianapolis) - Having been an owner of Clark I can say how nice it is to put his name in the starting lineup, sit back, and reap the rewards. Anytime you have a quality TE like Clark...and knowing that Mr. Manning will be tossing him the ball, you breathe easier. This year should be no different.

5) Owen Daniels (Houston) - This is one of the teams I see taking that next step. Daniels will be a big part of it. If QB Matt Shaub can keep it together, Daniels should be a monster over the middle of the field. With Andre Johnson as the #1 WR, that part of the field should be wide open.

6) Greg Olsen (Chicago) - I have to imagine that Olsen thought Christmas had come early with the Bears trade for QB Jay Cutler. Even though Olsen had a fairly good year with Kyle Orton at QB, he should do much better with the step up in quality in Cutler. Olsen is extra dangerous with his ability to go deeper downfield than most TE's.

7) John Carlson (Seattle) - A surprise breakout last season, Carlson became a go-to guy. With all the injuries at the WR and QB position, Carlson was the one constant. This year, with QB Matt Hasselbeck healthy and WR T.J. Housmanzadeh in camp, Carlson's stock is looking mighty good.

8) Kellen Winslow (Tampa Bay) - This was a very tough call. I could see putting Winslow a notch or two higher. I could also see him just outside the top-10. His abilities are unquestioned. His attitude, past injuries, and inexperience at QB, are a question.

9) Chris Cooley (Washington) - After a below-par year last season, we foresee a rebound of sorts for Chris. Just how big a rebound depends on if the wounds QB Jason Campbell felt with all the trade talk concerning him are healed. This team has a very good offense...if they'd just knock the dust off the entire playbook.

10) Kevin Boss (N.Y. Giants) - Boss seemed to get better as the year went on. Giant QB Eli Manning was more comfortable going to Boss in key situations, especially once Plaxico Burress was no longer a factor. Look for a solid season from Boss.

Fantasy Rookie Rankings (offense).

I thought I'd throw out a very preliminary rankings list for the incoming rookies.

Moreno - A great fit and a very good talent. I wouldn't be shocked to see him win the job after camp wraps up later in the summer.

Wells - Will share time with Hightower. Cross your fingers that he stays healthy.

Macklin - I really like his situation with Philly. He has a great chance to produce from game 1.

Crabtree - I wish the QB situation was better, but Crabtree will definitely contribute.

Brown - Addai showed some cracks in the armour, apparently the Colts saw them as well.

Nicks - Has a great opportunity to succeed early on. It's up to him.

Pettigrew - Will be Stafford's safety valve. Solid numbers are in the cards for Pettigrew.

Harvin - If he keeps his mind right, he could be an explosive force for the Vikings.

Stafford - Hey, he has Johnson and Pettigrew. If he gets decent protectection, he could put up decent numbers.

McCoy - Playing on a team with an injury-prone Westbrook will keep McCoy busier than a normal rookie.

Winners from a fantasy perspective after day one of the NFL draft.

Day one is in the books and a few teams made out pretty well. Do we see a clear-cut, dominating player? No. But there are a few guys that will be useful in larger leagues.

Michael Crabtree WR San Francisco - The 49ers had to be shocked to see Crabtree fall to them at pick #10. Some teams say they see Crabtree being a, "high-maintenance" WR. That remains to be seen, but I sure can see Crabtree making life easier for 49er QB Shaun Hill. He should also open things up somewhat for RB Frank Gore. I have a feeling Crabtree will want to make teams regret that they passed on him.

Knowshon Moreno RB Denver - Moreno was moving up most teams charts over the last 2 weeks and Denver took notice. The Broncos now have to figure out just who out of their vast roster of running backs they need to get rid of. Look for Moreno to get a decent share of carries to start with. He should be of extra value in PPR leagues as he is very good coming out of the backfield.

Jeremy Macklin WR Philadelphia - The Eagles continually have made the playoffs with average WR's. Things are starting to change. While they thought about trading for an established WR, they saved millions of dollars and took the 2nd best WR coming out of college. While Macklin doesn't have 4.35 speed, he does have the ability to separate from defenders and also is very good going over the middle.

Brandon Pettigrew TE Detroit - I'll take some heat for this choice. So be it. While the Lions need help on defense, the chance of getting a quality TE for their new QB Matthew Stafford. Pettigrew will give Stafford/Culpepper a TE that is a solid blocker and a guy that can get downfield.

Percy Harvin WR Minnesota - Ok,ok. If I thought I was going to get grief with my Pettigrew choice, I may have people questioning my sanity by picking Harvin. While Harvin's character may be in question, the is no question that he might be the most explosive offensive player in this draft. Harvin makes the Viking offense even more potent when you consider they already have Adrian Peterson, Bernard Berrian, and Visanthe Shiancoe.

Chris Wells RB Arizona - Watching Arizona trying to run the ball for the most of last season was very painful. The Cardinals sat Edgerrin James early on in favor of Tim Hightower, who didn't exactly wow anybody. With James wanting out of Arizona, look for Wells to at least share time with Hightower to start the season. With the passing game the Cardinals have, there should be room to run for Wells.

What to expect leading up to the NFL season.

We'll definitely have comments on tomorrow's NFL draft. Then after a quiet couple of weeks Eric, Adam, and myself will start posting player rankings for '09. That's always a fun time, mainly due to the fact I get emails questioning my sanity.

Of course this all leads up to our Fantasy Draft Preview show coming in mid-August on sportsradio1450. Which can be heard via streaming audio on www.sportsradio1450.com

Keep those tweets coming boys and girls. Hopefully, with the addition of QB Sage Rosenfels, the Vikings QB problem will not be as noticeable and will help A.P. even more. Peterson can simply do it all. The only thing that can stop Peterson is injury.

2) Michael Turner (Falcons) - Turned busted out in a big, big way last season. After spending time backing up LaDanian Tomlinson, Turner came through with a huge season. One of the best things about drafting Turner...he's not in a RBBC.

3) Stephen Jackson (Rams) - Many of the 'ifs' about Jackson's fantasy draft position has nothing to do about his own incredible talent, but more about problem areas concerning the team. The offensive line needs to be a more cohesive unit. It also wouldn't hurt to find help at WR. If the Rams don't address this, Jackson will find a lot of, 8-in-the-box defenses chasing him.

4) Maurice Jones-Drew (Jaguars) - The biggest 'mover' since the end of last season is without question, Jones-Drew. With the departure of Fred Taylor, the primary RB job falls to MJD. Another plus is, in PPR leagues, Jones-Drew is absolute money.

5) Chris Johnson (Titans) - Johnson had an immediate impact in his rookie season last year. Possessing incredible speed, Johnson was a threat to score anytime he got the ball. Johnson had almost 1500 total yards and 10 TD's despite sharing time with LenDale White. Look for Johnson to get the ball more in '09.

6) Matt Forte (Bears) - Another rookie that made many fantasy owners very happy was Matt Forte. Forte stabilized what had been a very unsettled backfield for the Bears. Not a 'flashy' player, Forte does everything well and doesn't make mistakes. A solid receiver coming out of the backfield (477 yds 4 tds), he's a must-have for owners in PPR leagues.

7) DeAngelo Williams (Panthers) - Wow! Williams had an amazing 2nd half to his '08 season. In the last 4 games alone Williams rushed for 560 yds and scored 7 td's. Even though he shares time with Jonathan, look for Williams to continue to post big numbers.

8) Marion Barber (Cowboys) - After an off year in '08 I expect Barber to return to the form of his previous seasons. A bruising runner, Barber looks for contact rather than avoid it. Although 2nd year RB Felix Jones will steal some of the playing time, Barber is the primary back and should see the majority of the playing time.

9) Frank Gore (49ers) - Gore struggled a bit last season and didn't look very comfortable in head coach Mike Singletary's offense. But Gore is an immense talent and should rebound nicely this season. A fine back coming out of the backfield (43 rec...373 yds), Gore will go higher in PPR leagues.

10) LaDanian Tomlinson (Chargers) - I struggled with #10. There were 3-4 backs that could have been slotted here, but I still think Tomlinson has more to offer overall. He never was completely healthy last season which led to most people believing his time as a premiere RB was over. I don't think he's quite done just yet.
